The recovered episode description places the encounter around 1:00–1:40 a.m. on September 30, 2024, on McElhenney Road near Lake Robinson in the Greer area of upstate South Carolina. James describes widespread power outages after Hurricane Helene, a strong musky odor, heavy movement through brush and low limbs, and a powerful scream. He says he was familiar with local wildlife from prior hunting experience and did not recognize the sound.
